Description: This painting was inspired by my time in Lancaster and my love of reality with a twist. It captures some typical images we associate with Lancaster County. The attitude of the mother, the Amish man, and the child also contain a social commentary. Although the Amish fascinate us in the non-Amish world, we've been trained to respect the privacy of our Amish neighbors by not staring at them. Children, of course, haven't yet gotten that message, so the little guy is clearly fixated on this fascinatingly "different" man.
