Walking with the YW - 2

Walking with the YW - 2

This piece appeared in Tracy's For the Love of the City Show in December 2009 at Mulberry Art Studios in Lancaster, PA.

This is my oil painting that I call, "Walking with the YW." I had always meant to make it part of a series celebrating our local WYCA's childcare program -- and the women who have such a large impact on the lives of many pre-schoolers: child care workers. So, while the kids draw the eye, each of the three paintings also celebrate the labor of people who most people take little note of.

Although I call it #2 in the series. It is the first one, that I finished. I think of this picture as a bit of an homage to the Beatle's "Abbey Road" album cover, but with a "Lancaster Twist" being provided by the image of one of Lancaster's Red Rose Transit buses in the background (Lancaster is the "Red Rose City".)

Size: 17.5 X 21.5".
Medium: Oil on Canvas
framed in a deep, plain, gallery-black frame

This series has been donated to the Lancaster YWCA.
